We are taught as children that God is good And we accept this in blind faith We trust in God because we do as we're told And we believe in what they tell us Then we grow in age and intellect And we learn God is not good Because life has taught us this way And we believe what life tells us But out of life comes despair and hope And we develop a need for God Then we see God for who he really is And we believe because our hearts tell us That God truly is good |

A poem I wrote today after thinking about what is being taught to children in churches, and how I believe it to be true, but not because I learned it in church. I find that true belief comes when I've experienced it in some way and not just by being instructed to believe.
